My top issues are:
Raise Standards and Enhance the Learning Experience
- High standards for students, high standards for the school division.
- Ensure every student has resources needed to reach their highest potential.
- Continue critical work to close achievement gaps wherever prevalent.
- Safe, distraction- and disruption-free learning and teaching environment in every classroom.
- Equal course offering across the division.
- Actionable plan for next steps for every WJCC graduate.
Recruit, Retain, and Respect Teachers
- Teachers are highly educated, highly skilled professionals who should be compensated and respected accordingly.
-
Teachers are also our neighbors, friends,
and often fellow parents and grandparents. Investment in our teachers is an investment in our children, our community, and our future.

Expand Career and Technical Education in WJCC
- Continue the great work that’s been done over the past few years and offer more vocational training options for WJCC students.
- Expand partnerships with our local businesses and community organizations.
Fiscal Responsibility and Student-Centered Budget Decision
- Ensure that every budget decision has a positive impact on student success
- James City County residents contribute significantly to WJCC schools and need to have a sense of return on their investment.
- Citizens want to know that their money is being used to educate students and producing results
- A thriving school division benefits the whole community in many ways. It affects home values, quality of life, and it informs business development and family residency decisions.

Transparency, Accountability, Trust
- Transparency and accountability at all levels remain essential for a thriving school district
- Teachers need to trust they will be supported by administration
- Parents need to trust that their children will be safe and well-cared for while at school
- Parents need to trust that they know what their children are learning and that it will prepare them for a successful future.
- Teachers and parents alike need to know their concerns will be heard and taken seriously by the board.
